Description:   A vulnerability was reported in Xen. A local user on the guest system can cause denial of service conditions on the host system.

A local user on the guest system can perform a grant table transition from v2 to v1 to trigger an incorrect error check and cause the hypervisor to crash.

x86 and ARM systems are affected.

Jan Beulich of SUSE reported this vulnerability.

Impact:   A local user on the guest system can cause cause the hypervisor to crash.
Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix (xsa255-1.patch, xsa255-2.patch, xsa255-4.6-1.patch, xsa255-4.6-2.patch, xsa255-4.7-1.patch, xsa255-4.7-2.patch, xsa255-4.9-1.patch, and xsa255-4.9-2.patch).
