Date:  Apr 11 2018
Impact:   Execution of arbitrary code via network, Modification of system information
Fix Available:  Yes  Vendor Confirmed:  Yes
Version(s): 2013 SP1, 2016
Description:   A vulnerability was reported in Microsoft SharePoint Server. A remote user can conduct cross-site scripting attacks.

The software does not properly filter HTML code from user-supplied input before displaying the input related to Microsoft Silverlight. A remote user can create a specially crafted URL that, when loaded by a target user that does not have Silverlight installed, will cause arbitrary scripting code to be executed by the target user's browser. The code will originate from the site running the Microsoft SharePoint software and will run in the security context of that site. As a result, the code will be able to cause the target user to be redirected to an arbitrary site.

Flavio Baldassi of Horizon Security reported this vulnerability.

Impact:   A remote user can cause the target user to be redirected to an arbitrary site.
Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix.
