Fix Available:  Yes  Vendor Confirmed:  Yes
Version(s): 7 SP1, 2008 R2 SP1, 2008 SP2, 2012, 8.1, 2012 R2, RT 8.1, 10, 10 Version 1511, 2016, 10 Version 1607, 10 Version 1703, 10 Version 1709
Description:   A vulnerability was reported in the Microsoft Windows 'its://' protocol handler. A remote user can obtain potentially sensitive information on the target system.

A remote user can create specially crafted content (e.g., web site, SMB, path, UNC path) that, when loaded by the target user, will load an 'its://' URL to cause the target user's NTLM hash to be disclosed when attempting to determine the zone of the request. The user can then conduct a brute-force attack against the hash value to determine the password.

Impact:   A remote user can obtain the target user's NTLM hash.
Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix.
