Description:   A vulnerability was reported in the Linux kernel. A local user can cause denial of service conditions on the target system.

A local user can supply a specially crafted protocol identifier to AF_INET and AF_INET6 sockets that only support 8-bit protocol identifiers to trigger a null pointer dereference and cause the target system to crash.

On systems that support CLONE_NEWUSER, a local user can exploit this flaw. A local user with CAP_NET_RAW capability can also exploit this flaw.

Impact:   A local user can cause the target system to crash.
Solution:   Ubuntu has issued a fix.
