SecurityTracker Alert ID:  1021207
SecurityTracker URL:  http://securitytracker.com/id/1021207
CVE Reference:   CVE-2008-5019   (Links to External Site)
Date:  Nov 13 2008
Impact:   Disclosure of authentication information, Disclosure of user information, Execution of arbitrary code via network, Modification of user information, User access via network
Fix Available:  Yes  Vendor Confirmed:  Yes
Version(s): prior to 1.1.13
Description:   A vulnerability was reported in Mozilla Firefox. A remote user can conduct cross-domain scripting attacks to gain privileges on the target user's system. Mozilla SeaMonkey is affected.

The session restore feature does not properly enforce same-origin policy. A remote user cause arbitrary scripting code to be executed by the target user's browser in the context of an arbitrary site. As a result, the code will be able to access the target user's cookies (including authentication cookies), if any, associated with the site, access data recently submitted by the target user via web form to the site, or take actions on the site acting as the target user.

Arbitrary scripting code can also be executed with chrome privileges.

David Bloom and moz_bug_r_a4 reported this vulnerability.

Impact:   A remote user can access the target user's cookies (including authentication cookies), if any, associated with arbitrary sites, access data recently submitted by the target user via web form to the site, or take actions on the site acting as the target user.

A remote user can gain chrome privileges on the target user's browser.

Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix for SeaMonkey (1.1.13), which is affected by this vulnerability.

The vendor's advisory is available at:
