How Do We Do It?
We spend our days and nights scouring the Internet for reports of vulnerabilities. Our automated agents scan web sites, e-mail lists, newsgroup feeds, white hat/gray hat/black hat information sources, vendor bulletins, and incident advisory sources for the latest vulnerability information.
Then, we apply a series of proprietary filters to reduce the massive amount of information we collect. We categorize the distilled data using a variety of narrowly defined topics to characterize the vulnerability as specifically as possible. The result is a clearly and cleanly organized SecurityTracker Alert.
In our SecurityTracker Alerts, we identify the vendor and the affected target (the vulnerable entity). We indicate what type of target this is (e.g., operating system, device, application). To help you get just the level of information that you need, we describe the problem both in a brief summary and a more detailed description. We list the cause, impact, and solution.
Our goal is to help you extract just the information you are looking for, without requiring you to search through an excessive amount of often confusing information.
