Description:
A vulnerability was reported in NitroView ESM. A remote user can execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The 'ess.pm' script does not properly validate user-supplied data before making a system() call. A remote user can send specially crafted data to the 'ess.pm' script to execute arbitrary code on the target system. The code will run with the privileges of the target service.
Systems with the 'ESSPMDebug=1' option in '/usr/local/ess/CPConsoleServer.cfg' are affected.
The vendor was notified on September 22, 2010.
