Description:   A vulnerability was reported in Symantec Altiris Notification Server. A local user can access authentication credentials.

The system uses a static encryption key to encrypt user authentication credentials and, in some configurations, SQL database credentials. A local user can decrypt the credentials.

With access to the SQL database credentials, the local user may be able to push arbitrary code to the server and potentially deployed network clients.

Impact:   A local user can access authentication credentials.
Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix (6.0 SP3 R12).
