Description:
Ivan Sanchez from NULL CODE SERVICES reported a vulnerability in Novell QuickFinder Server. A remote user can conduct cross-site scripting attacks.
Several scripts do not properly filter HTML code from user-supplied input before displaying the input. A remote user can create a specially crafted HTTP POST request that, when submitted by a target user, will cause arbitrary scripting code to be executed by the target user's browser. The code will originate from the site running the Novell QuickFinder Server software and will run in the security context of that site. As a result, the code will be able to access the target user's cookies (including authentication cookies), if any, associated with the site, access data recently submitted by the target user via web form to the site, or take actions on the site acting as the target user.
The 'siteloc' parameter of the 'displayaddsite' function is affected.
The 'generalproperties site' parameter of the 'globalsearchsite' function is affected.
The 'clusterserviceproperties site' parameter of the 'services, synchronization' function is affected.
The 'adminurl' parameter of the 'querystring' function is affected.
|
Impact:
A remote user can access the target user's cookies (including authentication cookies), if any, associated with the site running the Novell QuickFinder Server software, access data recently submitted by the target user via web form to the site, or take actions on the site acting as the target user.

Overview
--------
If your company's Web site is like most, it's not lacking in information. While your site's visitors have access to massive amounts of data, they may benefit from a faster,
more efficient way to pinpoint what they're looking for: QuickFinder Server (formerly NetWareŽ Web Search) from Novell.
