Description:
A vulnerability was reported in Microsoft Malware Protection Engine. A remote user can cause denial of service conditions.
A remote user can create a specially crafted file that, when received by the target system and scanned by the Microsoft Malware Protection Engine, will cause the engine to crash and restart [CVE-2008-1437]. A remote user can also cause the engine to consume excessive disk space, crash, and restart [CVE-2008-1438].

Impact:
A remote user can cause the scanning engine to stop responding and then automatically restart.

Solution:
The vendor has issued fixes for the affected products (most of which are available automatically).
A restart is not required.
