Description:   A vulnerability was reported in Cisco PIX Firewall. A remote user can cause denial of service conditions.

When the DHCP relay agent function is enabled, a remote user can send a large number of DHCP packets to consume excessive memory resources on the target device. This will cause the target device to stop forwarding packets.

Systems configured with more than one DHCP server via the dhcprelay server command are vulnerable.

Systems configured with only a single DHCP server via the dhcprelay server command are not affected.

The Firewall Services Module (FWSM) is not affected.

Cisco has assigned Cisco Bug ID CSCsh50277 to this vulnerability.

Lisa Sittler and Grant Deffenbaugh of CERT/CC discovered this vulnerability.

Impact:   A remote user can cause the target device to stop forwarding packets.
Solution:   The vendor has issued a fixed version (7.2(2.15)), available at:
