SecurityTracker Alert ID:  1039020
SecurityTracker URL:  http://securitytracker.com/id/1039020
CVE Reference:   CVE-2017-3131, CVE-2017-3132, CVE-2017-3133   (Links to External Site)
Updated:  Jul 31 2017
Original Entry Date:  Jul 29 2017
Impact:   Disclosure of authentication information, Disclosure of user information, Execution of arbitrary code via network, Modification of user information
Fix Available:  Yes  Vendor Confirmed:  Yes
Version(s): 5.6.0 and prior
Description:   Several vulnerabilities were reported in Fortinet FortiOS. A remote user can conduct cross-site scripting attacks.

The interface does not properly filter HTML code from user-supplied input before displaying the input. A remote user can cause arbitrary scripting code to be executed by the target user's browser. The code will originate from the Fortinet FortiOS interface and will run in the security context of that site. As a result, the code will be able to access the target user's cookies (including authentication cookies), if any, associated with the site, access data recently submitted by the target user via web form to the site, or take actions on the site acting as the target user.

The filter input in "FortiView" "Applications" is affected [CVE-2017-3131]. Versions 5.4.0 to 5.6.0 are affected.

The action input during the activation of a FortiToken is affected [CVE-2017-3132].

The Replacement Message HTML for SSL-VPN is affected [CVE-2017-3133].

Patryk Bogdan of Secorda reported these vulnerabilities.

Impact:   A remote user can access the target user's cookies (including authentication cookies), if any, associated with the Fortinet FortiOS interface, access data recently submitted by the target user via web form to the interface, or take actions on the interface acting as the target user.
Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix (5.6.1).
