Description:   A vulnerability was reported in Xen. A local user on the guest system can obtain elevated privileges on the target host system.

A local user on the guest system can supply specially crafted commands (e.g., FD_CMD_READ_ID, FD_CMD_DRIVE_SPECIFICATION_COMMAND) to trigger a memory corruption error and execute arbitrary code on the target host system.

Xen systems running x86 HVM guests without stubdomains may be affected.

Guest systems using either the traditional "qemu-xen" or upstream qemu device models are affected.

Systems running only x86 PV guests are not affected.

ARM systems are not affected.

Jason Geffner, CrowdStrike Senior Security Researcher, reported this vulnerability.

Impact:   A local user on the guest system can obtain elevated privileges on the target host system.
Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix (xsa133-qemuu.patch, xsa133-qemuu-4.3-4.2.patch, xsa133-qemut.patch).
