Updated:  Jul 21 2015
Original Entry Date:  Apr 22 2015
Impact:   Disclosure of authentication information, Disclosure of system information, Disclosure of user information, Execution of arbitrary code via network, Modification of user information, User access via local system, User access via network
Fix Available:  Yes  Vendor Confirmed:  Yes
Version(s): 5.2.1 and prior, 5.0.10 and prior
Description:   Multiple vulnerabilities were reported in Fortinet FortiManager. A remote user can conduct cross-site scripting attacks. A remote user can inject SQL commands. A remote authenticated user can obtain arbitrary files on the target system. A local or remote authenticated user can obtain elevated privileges on the target system.

User profiles do not properly filter HTML code from user-supplied input before displaying the input. A remote user can cause arbitrary scripting code to be executed by the target user's browser. The code will originate from the Fortinet FortiManager interface and will run in the security context of that site. As a result, the code will be able to access the target user's cookies (including authentication cookies), if any, associated with the site, access data recently submitted by the target user via web form to the site, or take actions on the site acting as the target user.

A local user can execute certain commands to obtain elevated privileges.

A remote user can supply a specially crafted parameter value to execute SQL commands on the underlying database.

A remote authenticated user can modify specific parameters to gain elevated privileges.

A remote authenticated user can access arbitrary files on the target system.

Maksymilian Motyl and the ITN Security Team at Orange Polska reported these vulnerabilities.

Impact:   A local user can obtain elevated privileges on the target system.

A remote user can access the target user's cookies (including authentication cookies), if any, associated with the Fortinet FortiManager interface, access data recently submitted by the target user via web form to the site, or take actions on the site acting as the target user.

A remote user can execute SQL commands on the underlying database.

A remote authenticated user can modify specific parameters to gain elevated privileges.

A remote authenticated user can access arbitrary files on the target system.

Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix (5.0.11, 5.2.2).
