Description:
Several vulnerabilities were reported in Symantec Web Gateway. A remote user can include and execute arbitrary code on the target system. A remote user can conduct cross-site scripting attacks. A remote user can view/delete/upload files on the target system.
The management interface does not properly authenticate remote users and does not properly validate user-supplied input.
A remote user can cause arbitrary scripting code to be executed by the target user's browser [CVE-2012-0296]. The code will originate from the Symantec Web Gateway management interface and will run in the security context of that site. As a result, the code will be able to access the target user's cookies (including authentication cookies), if any, associated with the site, access data recently submitted by the target user via web form to the site, or take actions on the site acting as the target user.
A remote user can supply a specially crafted URL to cause the target system to include and execute arbitrary PHP code [CVE-2012-0297]. The PHP code, including operating system commands, will run with the privileges of the target web service.
A remote user can supply a specially crafted request to view or delete files on target system [CVE-2012-0298].
A remote user can supply a specially crafted request to upload files and execute arbitrary commands on the target system [CVE-2012-0299].
Tenable Network Security (via TippingPoint’s ZeroDay Initiative) and an anonymous contributor (via Beyond Security's SecuriTeam Secure Disclosure project) reported these vulnerabilities.
