Description:
A vulnerability was reported in Microsoft Internet Explorer and the Windows operating system shell handler. A remote user can cause arbitrary code to be executed on the target user's system.
A remote user can create a specially crafted URL that, when loaded by the target user, will execute arbitrary code on the target system. The code will run with the privileges of the target user.
Code that is called to validate the URL could execute a binary located on the target system.
Depending on what version of Internet Explorer and what version of the Windows operating system is used, the flaw may reside in the Internet Explorer code or in the Windows shell handler code.
Brett Moore via TippingPoint and Lostmon Lords reported this vulnerability.
