Description:   A vulnerability was reported in Java Runtime Environment (JRE) in the Unpack200 utility. A remote user can access files on the target user's system. A remote user can cause arbitrary applications on the target user's system to be executed.

A remote user can create a specially crafted applet or Web Start application that, when loaded by the target user, will trigger an integer overflow in the "Unpack200" JAR unpacking utility to gain access to files on the target system or execute arbitrary applications residing on the target system.

iDefense and an anonymous researcher working with TippingPoint reported this vulnerability.

Impact:   A remote user can create an applet or Web Start application that, when loaded by the target user, will access files or execute arbitrary applications on the target user's system.
Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix for Windows, Solaris, and Linux:

* JDK and JRE 6 Update 15 or later
* JDK and JRE 5.0 Update 20 or later
