Description:
A vulnerability was reported in SystemTap. A local user can obtain elevated privileges on the target system.
A local user with 'stapusr' group privileges can exploit a race condition to gain privileges of the 'stapdev' group. This allows the local user to obtain root privileges.
The vulnerability occurs because a checkpath() function validates kernel object paths but later opens the file without validating that the file is located within the required root-owned directory.
Erik Sjolund reported this vulnerability.
