Description:
A vulnerability was reported in Symantec Norton Internet Security. A remote user can cause arbitrary code to be executed on the target user's system.
A remote user can create specially crafted HTML that, when loaded by the target user, will trigger a stack overflow in the SmartIssue 'tgctlsi.dll' and ScriptRunner 'tgctlsr.dll' ActiveX controls and execute arbitrary code on the target system. The code will run with the privileges of the target user.
The ActiveX controls were developed by SupportSoft and included as part of Symantec Norton Internet Security.
Symantec Norton AntiVirus 2006, Symantec Norton System Works 2006, and Symantec Automated Support Assistant are also affected.
Symantec 2007 consumer products are not affected. Symantec corporate and enterprise products are not affected.
This vulnerability was independently discovered by Mark Litchfield of NGS Software, US-CERT, and Peter Vreugdenhil working with iDefense.
