Description:   A vulnerability was reported in Solaris. A remote user can cause denial of service conditions.

A remote user can conduct a TCP ACK flood attack (using inherenet features of the TCP protocol) to cause the target system to consume all available resources. Performance on the target system will be degraded.

Impact:   A remote user can cause performance to degrade on the target system.
Solution:   Sun has issued the following fixes to protect against TCP ACK storms.

SPARC Platform

* Solaris 8 with patch 116965-17 or later
* Solaris 9 with patch 118305-07 or later
* Solaris 10 with patch 118833-12 or later

x86 Platform

* Solaris 8 with patch 116966-16 or later
* Solaris 9 with patch 117470-06 or later
* Solaris 10 with patch 118855-10 or later
