Description:
Several vulnerabilities were reported in Microsoft Windows. A remote user can execute arbitrary code on the target system. A local user can gain elevated privileges on the target system.
A remote user can supply a specially crafted network message to the Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator to trigger a buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system. On some configurations, authentication is required to exploit this vulnerability.
The process that COM+ uses to create and use memory structures contains a vulnerability. A remote user can execute arbitrary code on the target system.
A local user can also exploit these flaws to gain elevated privileges.
The process that the Distributed Transaction Coordinator uses to validate TIP requests contains a vulnerability. A remote user can supply a specially crafted network message to cause the Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator to stop working. This can also be exploited to affect the Distributed Transaction Coordinator on other systems.
The vendor credits eEye Digital Security, Cesar Cerrudo of Argeniss, and iDEFENSE with reporting these vulnerabilities.
