Description:
A denial of service vulnerability was reported in the Microsoft Windows kernel in the parsing of ANI files. A remote user can cause the target user's system to hang or crash.
A remote user can create a specially crafted Windows animated cursor file (ANI file) that, when loaded by the target user, will cause the target system to crash. The malicious file can be loaded via HTML, for example.
The software does not properly validate user-supplied frame numbers and rate numbers in the ANI file header.
