Exploit Included: Yes
|
Version(s): 1.2, 1.2.1

Description:
An input validation vulnerability was reported in WordPress. A remote user can conduct cross-site scripting attacks.
It is reported that the software does not properly validate user-supplied input in the 'redirect_to' parameter of the 'wp-login.php' script. A remote user can create a specially crafted URL that, when loaded by a target user, will cause arbitrary scripting code to be executed by the target user's browser. The code will originate from the site running the WordPress software and will run in the security context of that site. As a result, the code will be able to access the target user's cookies (including authentication cookies), if any, associated with the site, access data recently submitted by the target user via web form to the site, or take actions on the site acting as the target user.
A demonstration exploit URL is provided:
wp-login.php?redirect_to=[XSS]
In December 2004, Thomas Waldegger indicated that version 1.2.1 is also affected by this and other vulnerabilities.
Some demonstration exploit URLs are provided:
/wp-login.php?redirect_to=[XSS]
/wp-admin/bookmarklet.php?popupurl=[XSS]
/wp-admin/bookmarklet.php?content=[XSS]
/wp-admin/edit-comments.php?s=[XSS]

/wp-admin/link-manager.php?action=linkedit&cat_id=[XSS]
/wp-admin/post.php?content=[XSS]
/wp-admin/moderation.php?action=update&item_approved=[XSS]
It is also reported that a remote user may be able to inject SQL commands. Some demonstration exploit URLs are provided:
/index.php?m=bla
/wp-admin/edit.php?m=bla
/wp-admin/link-categories.php?cat_id=bla&action=Edit
|
Impact:
