(Links to External Site)
|

Impact:
Disclosure of authentication information, Disclosure of user information, Execution of arbitrary code via network, Modification of user information
|
Exploit Included: Yes
|
Version(s): 2.2.1, 3.3 Build 44
|
Description:
An input validation vulnerability was reported in WebWasher Classic. A remote user can conduct cross-site scripting attacks.
Oliver Karow reported that the software does not filter HTML scripting code from user-supplied HTTP GET requests when displaying an error page containing the user-supplied request.
A remote user can create a specially crafted URL for the proxy port (TCP port 8080 by default) that, when loaded by a target user, will cause arbitrary scripting code to be executed by the target user's browser. The code will originate from the proxy and will run in the security context of that site. As a result, the code will be able to access the target user's cookies (including authentication cookies), if any, associated with the site, access data recently submitted by the target user via web form to the site, or take actions on the site acting as the target user.
A demonstration exploit URL is provided:
http://localhost:8080/<script>alert("WASH_ME")</script>
|
Impact:
A remote user can access the target user's cookies (including authentication cookies), if any, associated with the site running the vulnerable proxy software, access data recently submitted by the target user via web form to the site, or take actions on the site acting as the target user.

Subject: Webwasher Classic Error-Message XSS Vulnerability
|
Webwasher Classic Error-Message XSS Vulnerability
=================================================
Description
===========
WebWasher Classic is vulnerable to a XSS attack.
If a HTTP GET-Request, containing script code, is sent to the
proxy port (default 8080/TCP), an error page is shown, which contains the
requested URL in the message body.
Thereby no validation of the requested url, regarding script code, is done.
It has to be mentioned, that if WebWasher proxy runs in server mode, the
proxy
port is accessible from the network. If WebWasher proxy runs in client mode,
only connections from localhost are possible.
