Description:
Caldera reported a vulnerability in the libdb1 package included in OpenLinux 3.1. Remote users may be able to gain access to the server and local users may be able to gain root level access on the system.
It is reported that, due to a configuration error in the libdb1 package included with OpenLinux 3.1, some components of the library user unsafe versions of the snprintf and vsnprintf functions that apparently contain buffer overflows. As a result, remote users may gain access to the system and local users may gain root access.

The vendor has released fixed packages.

1. Problem Description
Due to a configuration mistake in the libdb1 package included with
OpenLinux 3.1 some programs were using unsafe version of the snprintf
and vsnprintf functions. This might allow remote attackers to gain
access to your system or local attackers to gain root access.
