Description: An input validation vulnerability was reported in BEA WebLogic in the administration console. A remote user can conduct cross-site scripting attacks.
The 'JndiFramesetAction' function does not properly validate user-supplied input in the 'server' parameter. A remote user can create
a specially crafted URL that, when loaded by a target administrator, will cause arbitrary scripting code to be executed by the target
administrator's browser. The code will originate from the site running the WebLogic administration console software and will run
in the security context of that site. As a result, the code will be able to access the target administrator's cookies (including
authentication cookies), if any, associated with the site, access data recently submitted by the target administrator via web form
to the site, or take actions on the site acting as the target administrator.
A demonstration exploit URL is provided:
http://[target]:8001/console/actions/jndi/Jndi
FramesetAction?server='<script>alert(document.cookie);</script>mydomain%3AName%3Dmyserver%2CType%3DS
The vendor was notified
on April 13, 2004.
Alexander Kornbrust from red-database-security.com reported this vulnerability.
