Description:  A buffer overflow vulnerability was reported in Avirt Voice. A remote user may be able to cause the application to crash or execute arbitrary code.

Donato Ferrante reported that a remote user can send a specially crafted request to the target system on TCP port 1080 to trigger a buffer overflow.

A demonstration exploit request is provided:

GET aaaa[ 1113 of a ]aaaa

Impact:  A remote user may be able to cause the application to crash or potentially execute arbitrary code [however, the report did not disclose the specific impact.]
Solution:  No solution was available at the time of this entry. The vendor reportedly plans to issue a fix in the next version of the product.

"Avirt Voice acts as an H.323 gateway between IP networks. It allows
users to operate H.323 applications, like Microsoft NetMeeting, Intel
Video Phone, or Netspeak Webphone, from behind a firewall.
Because Voice is a software solution, it is more easily scalable and
much less expensive than hardware alternatives."

The program doesn't well manage the received strings on the TCP port
1080. In fact it will have a buffer overflow.
