Description: Some buffer overflow vulnerabilities were reported in the Freesweep game software. A local user may be able to obtain elevated privileges on the system.
It is reported that a local user can set certain environment variables to a specially crafted value and then invoke freesweep to
execute arbitrary code. Because freesweep is configured with set group id (setgid) 'games' group privileges, a local user can obtain
'games' group privileges.
From code inspection, it appears that the HOME and USER environment variables are affected.

Debian reported that Steve Kemp discovered a buffer overflow in the freesweep game. The
buffer overflow reportedly occurs when processing certain environment variables.
A local user can exploit the flaw to gain gid 'games'.
